The iconic Red Caboose Motel was established in 1970 when local businessman Don Denlinger placed a half-hearted bid on 19 cabooses being sold as scrap by the former Pennsylvania Railroad. Don won the auction with a bid of $100 below scrap value and, after much soul searching, devised a plan to turn the cabooses into motel rooms, and the rest – is history!

Today, the Red Caboose Motel boasts 38 cabooses, a mail car, a baggage car, and the Shady Rest Hotel, making it the largest privately owned collection of cabooses worldwide.

Visitors can also enjoy the on site restaurant, Casey Jones’ – housed in two 70-ton former Pennsylvania Railroad Cars; petting zoo, gift shop, viewing tower, entertainment and so much more!

Casey Jones’ Restaurant: Join us in the two original P-70 80-ton dining cars that once rode the rails of the Pennsylvania Railroad in the early 1900s. You won’t leave disappointed if your appetite is as big as John Henry or as small as a nugget of coal. Come early for a window seat and watch trains leave from the Strasburg Rail Road station.

It offers indoor and seasonal outdoor dining and takeout options.

The Barn at Paradise Station: Experience our wedding, event, and live entertainment venue with gorgeous farmland and steam train views. We’ve meticulously restored and technologically enhanced the Pennsylvania Bank Barn on the property with a state-of-the-art visual system, climate-controlled environments and given it full handicapped accessibility.

In addition to holding your wedding or special event here, we offer family-style dining & live show options for bus groups.

And the photogenic outdoor options include a firelight patio, pond, and picturesque sights for miles.
