The iconic Red Caboose Motel was established in 1970 when local businessman Don Denlinger placed a half-hearted bid on 19 cabooses being sold as scrap by the former Pennsylvania Railroad. Don won the auction with a bid of $100 below scrap value and, after much soul searching, devised a plan to turn the cabooses into motel rooms, and the rest – is history!

Today, the Red Caboose Motel boasts 38 cabooses, a mail car, a baggage car, four historic farmhouse suites and luxurious Conductor's Quarters, making it the largest privately owned collection of cabooses worldwide.

Visitors can also enjoy the on site restaurant, Casey Jones’ – housed in two 70-ton former Pennsylvania Railroad Cars; petting zoo, gift shop, viewing tower, entertainment and so much more!
